I can win and so can you! This is the mentality of Habit 4: Think-Win-Win. The fourth habit is all about learning to be equal with others and building relationships with others. A person who believes in think-win-win believes that everyone is equal. In Habit 4, I learned about the four types of attitudes. The four types represented in the book were win-lose, lose-win, lose-lose, and of course win-win. In win-lose it's not about being the best you can be, its about being better than someone else. This is referred to as the totem pole syndrome. Next, is lose-win. This is when you'd rather please someone else than to please yourself. This is referred to as the doormat syndrome. Next, we have lose-lose. In a lose-lose situation, there tends to be the mentality of: "If I can't win, then you're going down with me." This is referred to as the downward spiral. Lastly, win-win. Win-win is referred to as the all you can eat buffet. This is when you want to succeed and want others to thrive as well. The last thing taught in this habit is "The Tumor Twins". The tumor twins are competing and comparing. I learned that when you compete with people, you try to put yourself above others. When you compare yourself to people, it leads to feeling insecure and inferior. In its whole, Habit 4 is about learning to be equal with others and yourself in order to have better relationships with others.
